One Of Us
‘Leave, or die.’
Jess Dyer has won safety for her sister-in-law Ruth and proved her worth as the leader of her refugee community.
Sarah Evans has stood up to her parents and discovered who she can trust.
But the villagers still aren’t welcome. When the local population expresses its anger, can Jess keep everyone safe? And can she hold it together as Steward when someone she loves dies?
And how will Sarah react when her new fiancee Martin receives death threats, telling him he must leave her, and their village?
One Of Us is a gripping thriller about belonging and acceptance. It’s the third book in the Village trilogy, and the sequel to Sea Of Lies.
MY Thoufght and Review:
Book three in the Village series. Whilst it can be read as a standalone it would be best for the reader to have read the two previous books to get a complete picture.
The Village is a self governing community facing hostility from the local population and turmoil from within.
Jess the leader of the council which runs the Village, is faced with a dilemma, can she keep the Village together, when faced with hostility from the local population; and also loosing someone she loves.
Also Sarah, who after defying her parents to set up a home with Martin, risks loosing him when he receives death threats. He feels it is better for all if he leaves.
Can the Village continue: and will it be able to share precious resources with incomers? Read on and find out.
Rachel has served up another feast. She continues to tell the reader how a community, built on sharing, is in danger when it has to share with others. The quality of her writting never seems to fail, keeping the reader enthralled and explaining Village politics without to much detail and risk allienating the reader.
That is her key to her sucess with this trilogy. Good writing, not a wasted word, great story and characters we can all invest in . I would urge you to buy Rachel’s books as you are in for a treat!
Author Bio –
My name’s Rachel McLean and I write thrillers that make you think.
What does that mean?
In short, I want my stories to make your pulse race and your brain tick.
Do you often get through a thriller at breakneck pace but are left with little sense of what the book was really about? Do you sometimes read literary fiction but just wish something would damn well happen?
My books aim to fill that gap.
